Field Trips & Classes
Field Trip Registration: Please click on this form to request a date for all programs listed below. Please submit your request beginning August 16th. Requests for reservations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis after August 16th. We are also taking reservations for in-class programs for the months of December-February.
Programs available include: (click on each program below for details)

Homes and Habitats (Pre-K -- Kindergarten)
Students will be entertained by a lively puppet show, forest hike and scavenger hunt. -
What’s a Forest? (1st -- 2nd Grade)
Students will participate in a short safety hike, forest products game, and an animal & plant scavenger hunt in various habitats -
Past & Present (3rd -- 4th Grade)
Students will perform skits about the history of the forest, and learn how to "see" the forest during a detective investigation. -
Freshwater and Forests (4th -- 6th grade)
Students will search for macro-invertebrates and study a forest riparian area's components. -
Trees of the Tillamook (5th -- 6th Grade)
Students will identify trees, deliver a short presentation, play a game, and hike through the forest. -
Ever-changing Ecosystem (7th -- 8th Grade)
Explore and investigate different forest stands while collecting data on biotic and abiotic factors. -
Forestry Careers (6th--12th Grade)

Sharing Forest Wonders (Summer Youth Program)
(Ages 4-7) Using all of the senses, children will experience the forest through the eyes of different forest animals. -
Woods Walk (Summer Youth Program)
(Ages 8-12) Come prepared to use your senses, play games and learn more about the forest community. -
Forestry for Scouts (Webelos, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts )
Guided programs meet specific badge and try-it requirements. Printable packets and booklets are available. -
Special Program Requests (All Ages)

Self-Guided Field Trip (All Ages)
Movie plays on the hour and half hour; beginning at 10:30am. Printable self-guided packet and various self-guided worksheets are available.
All programs…
- Are free, with a limited number of opportunities available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Are tied to state curriculum requirements.
- Include pre-visit and post-visit activity suggestions and information.
- Are led by professional Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) foresters and educators.
- Are limited to 40 students maximum at one program, 15 students minimum.
- Require you to register 4 weeks in advance.
Transportation assistance…
The Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI) may reimburse transportation costs for teachers who register for a guided school program and have financial need. The form is included in your program packet. OFRI must receive the completed form prior to your scheduled field trip.
Teachers are required to:
- Provide one adult chaperone for every 4–6 students.
- Complete about one to two hours of pre-visit activities with your students.
- Make sure students have proper clothing, lunches and water.
